- Veteran pro-democratic Journalist of Myanmar Win Tin on 19 April 2014 died due to his respiratory problems. He was 85.
- Meb Keflezighi on 21 April 2014 became the first United States male athlete to win the Boston Marathon in three decades (since 1983).
- Mathangi Sathyamurthy, Karnataka musician was selected for M S Subbulakshmi Award 2014. It was announced by the M S Subbulakshmi Foundation on 19 April 2014. She will receive a cash award of 10001 rupees and a plaque. The awards will be give to her on 2 May 2014.
- Canadian author Alistair MacLeod on 20 April 2014 died due to a heart stroke. He was 77. He was well known for his short story collections and novel No Great Mischief.

- Andhra Pradesh has recorded highest growth in terms of both milk production and per-capita milk availability at over 41 per cent and about 36 per cent, respectively, during the five year period of 2006-10.The state ranked third in terms of milk production with over 1.1 million tonnes (mt) milk produced annually.Milk production across India has grown at a significant rate of about 19 per cent during the aforesaid period with overall milk production crossing 121 mt mark as of 2010-11.
