In what can be a great relief to bank-job aspirants, 28,118 candidates were allotted jobs in 21 participating banks by the Institute for Banking Personal Selection (IBPS).
As per the list hosted by the IBPS which conducted the Common Written Examination for Probationary Officers and Management Trainees (PO/MT-II), 13,442 unreserved posts, 4,415 vacancies for scheduled castes, 2,135 for scheduled tribes, 7,608 for other backward communities, among others, were allotted to various banks as per their requirements.
For most of the aspirants this is good news because the validity of their scores would expire next month and if they are not allotted the jobs, they would have to write the exam again.
The allotment was done in three phases including the allotment of jobs to 1,026 candidates last month. This became an issue of contention and the wait-listed candidates also staged a dharna demanding that they should be given allotment before the expiry of their scores.
Now, with the announcement of a consolidated list, the PO – II allotment is deemed to have been completed.
This was one of the most competitive exams as about 7.50 lakh candidates appeared for the written test. Out of these, 61,339 candidates were qualified for the common interview process and 45,000 candidates were declared successful/eligible for jobs in line with the vacancies. Out of this, 28,118 candidates could get allotment.
Already, IBPS had conducted PO – III common written exam and also completed interviews. The resulted is expected to be announced soon.
